What’s the role and service?

In your role as a Project Worker you will be responsible for facilitating the OASIS Programme. The aim of the programme is to enable young people who are at risk of early school leaving to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes to enable them to remain in, and participate more effectively in school.

What will my day to day look like?

  • You will undertake assessments with young people and their parents using the Barnardos assessment framework to determine the suitability of the programme in meeting their individual needs.
  • liaising closely with involved schools with regard to referrals, allocations and sharing of information regarding progress within the groups and for individual young people.
  • participating in interagency consultation meetings to ensure the young person’s needs are met.
  • Linking into and engaging with the Corduff and Mulhuddart wider communities, members and services
  • implementing the Barnardos Trauma Informed Approach in the best interest of the young people, their families and the wider community.
  • Using a trauma informed lens in relation all planned activities, interactions, observed behaviours and programmes engaged in with the young people in the group.

What experience do I need? 

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience, one of which must be post-qualification, of working with vulnerable children and families.
  • Experience of working in partnership with and assessing children’s and families’ needs is desirable
  • Experience of inter-agency working, desirable.
  • Experience of preparing comprehensive needs led reports on children and families.

Do I need a qualification?

A recognised third level practice qualification1 (minimum Level 7 on the NFQ) in one of the following: Social Care, Social Work, Youth Work or related discipline (Nursing, Psychology, Early Years’ Education).

A full driving licence and access to the use of a suitably insured car is essential.

Applicants with a Social Care or Social Work qualification must be registered with CORU as a Social Care Worker or Social Worker respectively.

Those eligible for CORU registration who are currently in the process of registration through their qualification,

or under CORU’s transitional arrangements (grandparenting route),  will be required to provide evidence that this in process. 

The post-holder is initially assigned to work in the Corduff service but may be required in the future to work in other project(s) in line with Organisational needs.
