We are looking for a proactive and driven Port Agent to join our experienced and friendly team. You will have the opportunity to work within a company that values internal promotion and supports your professional growth.   

 

Responsibilities for a Port Agent:  

  • Communication with our principal and vessel to take instruction and update information relating to berthing window, berth and labour availability   
  • Liaising with stevedores, towage providers, pilots and local government authorities (to include customs, port health and MCA (Maritime Costal Agency)  
  • Responsible for supporting port agency & customs manager to process customs entries   
  • Liaising with the various service suppliers (ship chandlers, fresh water supply, bunker suppliers, transportation services etc) for scheduling and delivery of goods and services to the vessel  
  • Processing manifests and invoicing freight and local charges to UK receivers   
  • Organising transport and handling of cargoes, using third party crane providers and hauliers   
  • Processing and handling of invoices, ensuring that invoices are checked against tariffs that have been agreed with third party vendors  

 

Requirements for a Port Agent:   

  • Awareness of planning/logistics process   
  • Working as part of a multi-disciplined team   
  • Experience within a customer service environment   
  • Excellent communication skills  
  • Exceptional organisation skills    
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft applications   
  • Willing to learn   
  • Forward-thinking and able to use own initiative
