Temporary Purchase Ledger Clerk
Location: Guernsey
Reporting to: Head of Finance
Contract: Temporary for 4 months (covering internal secondment)

We are recruiting for a Temporary Purchase Ledger Clerk to support our finance team for 4 months to cover an internal secondment. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented and proactive individual to contribute to the busy finance function.

The Role

You will support the Payable Finance Officer (PFO) in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring all expenditure is processed, recorded, and reconciled correctly.

The role involves processing purchase orders and invoices within the Beanworks system, working closely with departments to ensure data is accurate and up to date.

You will ensure timely payment of authorised invoices and maintain strong supplier relationships. A key responsibility will be reconciling supplier statements to the accounting system, resolving discrepancies, and maintaining accurate creditor records.

You will also support monthly reporting and assist the wider finance team, contributing to efficient processes and accurate cashflow management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process purchase orders and invoices accurately and on time
  • Maintain up-to-date financial records across systems
  • Ensure timely payment of authorised invoices
  • Reconcile supplier statements and manage creditor accounts
  • Support reporting and month-end processes
  • Assist with improving financial processes and controls

Skills and Experience

Essential:

  • Strong Excel and Outlook skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisation
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Strong communication skills

Desirable:

  • Experience in purchase ledger or credit control
  • Knowledge of SAGE 200 or similar systems
  • Experience with purchase order systems such as Beanworks

Qualifications

Accounting or bookkeeping qualifications are advantageous but not essential.

A police check will be required.
