Summary of Role:

  • As a Night Shift Supervisor you will be playing a pivotal role within the operations of the company and be responsible for, but not limited to:
  • The overall supervision of the technicians on the Night Shift, including agency staff.
  • Leading by example at all times, ensure efficient and constructive use of all working hours on the Night Shift by the team.
  • Encourage an ethos of continual improvement and development of the shift.
  • Training responsibilities for the Technicians and agency on the Night Shift to ensure all staff can complete all responsibilities to a high standard. Including but not limited to:
  • Testing and quality checks
  • Picking and scanning of jobs using in-house system 
  • Asset and storage control measures; putting the right equipment away and storing it correctly and safely
  • Loading/unloading of vehicles
  • Communicating with the Equipment Control Team and Department Supervisors to accurately allocate daily workload requirements to the Technicians within your team, ensuring a fair and balanced workload.
  • Support/cover during periods of absence the Night Shift Manager in receiving and completing the daily shift and departments handovers, escalating any issues to the correct people in a timely manner.
  • Support/cover during periods of absence the Twilight (Night) Shift lead to ensure an accurate and comprehensive shift handover report is circulated at the end of every shift.  
  • Liaising with the Sales and Inventory teams as required to deal with stock queries and special requirements.
  • Liaising with the Management Operations Group and Inventory team to identify, flag and rectify any anomalous stock or system inaccuracies as they arise.
  • Ensuring all equipment sent out for jobs meets all the company’s quality checks and standards.
  • Demonstrating a positive approach to the company whilst reacting to the high demands of the business.
  • Ability to manage workload efficiently and meet strict deadlines whilst adhering to the priorities of the business.
  • Manage returning rental stock effectively to ensure smooth flow of equipment around the department.
  • Originating and contributing to documentation for training purposes, to include procedures and competency skillsets.
  • Ensure that all departmental areas and bays are left tidy and to the correct standard for the incoming shift.
  • Liaise with MBST to ensure vehicles are moved on and off bays as required and to verify at the end of each shift all loading/unloading requirements are complete when required.

Supervision of Technicians:

 

·        Ensuring there is always appropriate cover across all required departments and that those providing the cover are suitably trained.

·        To lead by example and set a high standard of professionalism with time keeping, starting at the place of work for shifts and completion of tasks.

·        To escalate potential breaches of conduct and areas of concern to the Night Shift Manager.

·        To assist the Night Shift Manager in ensuring all staff are fully trained to fulfil all roles across the required departments and to continuously review all existing team member’s competences and where required, retrain to ensure correct use of systems, correct handling of equipment, correct storage of equipment and understanding of all relevant procedures.

·        To highlight individuals for potential areas of upskilling.

·        Support and supervise other departments when required.

·        Leading by example, ensure allocated breaks are adhered to at all times, referring any consistent offenders to the managers.

·        Ensure scanners utilised within the department are controlled accurately, maintained and the correct log ins are used at all times.

·        Maintain the highest standards of professionalism at all times, communicating calmly and respectfully to Technicians, colleagues and managers. Escalate any issues or concerns in a timely and constructive manner to the Equipment Manager or Operations Manager.

Health & Safety:

·        At all times maintain clear pedestrian and evacuation routes through the warehouse.

·        Escalate areas of concern through the right channels.

·        Support the Night Shift Manager to ensure that all health and safety policies are followed such as fire evacuation procedures and accident/near miss reporting.

·        Ensure that only those competent and authorised to use mechanical handling equipment, PAT stations and company do so.

·        Complete regular and ad hoc health & safety inspections, for example evacuation route inspections as required.

Quality Control:

·        To have a strong attention to detail, ensuring all equipment is compliant with electrical and mechanical testing regimes and company quality control measures.

·        To ensure all jobs are picked and scanned in a timely manner and reach the correct bay as required and in line with Equipment Control requirements. Checking each job and counter signing the pull list when requested by the Department Supervisor.

·        Leading by example, ensure that all items are correctly scanned to the correct job every time.

·        To ensure any shortages are highlighted and raised to the relevant Equipment Coordinator team as a matter of urgency.

·        To ensure all non-coded equipment is taken out of service to be coded in conjunction with the inventory team’s availability to do so.

·        To meet the highest standards of customer service levels when it comes to presentation of equipment.

·        To complete all quality checks to ensure all jobs are sent out accurately.

·        To complete and ensure all company procedures when put in place are followed when it comes to additional QC checks and double scanning procedures.

 

Asset Management & Storage:

 

·        Looking for continual improvement in terms of departmental changes and storage solutions for the equipment.

·        To ensure processes and systems relating to the departments are followed by Twilight shift team members.

·        To assist where required in developing storage solutions to improve asset management and controls.

·        To immediately escalate any areas of concern relating to inventory and asset control to the Operational Management team.

·        Assisting the Inventory team with stock checks, pre audit prep and other ad-hoc requirements as necessary.

·        Review and implement efficient control and streamlined handling of returning stock during peak cycles in conjunction with the Management Operations Group.

·        Work with the Management Operations Group to review, develop and implement improved stock handling systems within the department, improving accuracy & efficiency while reducing strain and injury risk to Equipment Technicians while undertaking departmental functions.

Essential Skills:

·        Must be IT literate with a good understanding of Microsoft office software.

·        Good understanding of operating systems such as RT Pro inventory tracking system, Microsoft Teams

·        Good communication skills

·        Adaptable and willingness to learn.

·        Flexible to work overtime and occasional weekends as the needs to the business require.
