Apprentice Engineer

The Apprentice Engineer you will learn and obtain experience in the fundamentals of mechanical and electrical engineering through a combination of off-the-job training and secondment roles across the business.

 

Throughout the duration of the apprenticeship to be taught the key engineering skills and gain the experience required by a Production Engineer at Chemring Countermeasures.

 

The responsibilities of the role include (but are not limited to):

·           To comply with all health and safety procedures and regulations laid down by the company and to demonstrate a commitment to health and safety

·           College attendance and successful completion of coursework and exams

·           Completion of a level 4 engineering qualification

·           Gaining a wider understanding of the business through placements across various departments

·           Gain knowledge & experience in lean manufacturing tools and techniques: problem solving, loss analysis and continuous improvement etc

·           Undertake small projects to develop and demonstrate competency in technical and analytical aspects

·           Develop a good understanding of process, plant and equipment across the business

·           To train in the provision of buildings, services, tooling, and equipment in support of the production programme

·           To train in the setting up and carrying out of initial running of new processes. Including process documentation

 

Apprentice Engineer Specification:

·           Right to live and work in the UK, with ability to obtain SC level clearance

·           Level 2 qualifications E.g GCSE A*-C or grades 4-9 in Maths, English and Science

·           Level 3 Engineering qualification

·           Must not be colour blind

·           IT Skills

·           Knowledge of basic Engineering principle
