Alpha Manufacturing, part of The HEX Group, is a privately-owned business fabricating sheet metal in the UK. Alpha designs and produces both sheet metal work components and assemblies. Established in 1989, the company now employs over 180 people. Utilising industry leading technology, Alpha Manufacturing have facilities to design, prototype and manufacture a diverse range of products all in their purpose-built sheet metal fabrication factory in the heart of Staffordshire.
Having experienced significant growth and success over the last few years, we are looking to strengthen our team with the recruitment of a NPI Engineer.
Role responsibilities:
- Liaise with customers at product introduction stage to ensure all designs and drawings are fit for manufacture.
- Design and develop detailed project plans to ensure the smooth introduction of customer products.
- Evaluate technical drawings and work with customers to change, where needed, elements which do not fit with Alpha’s processing capabilities.
- To standardise where possible radius’ and dimensions to fit with current Alpha tooling inventory.
- Liaise with Programming Manager to ensure all new tooling requirements are identified and ordered.
- Liaise with relevant managers and group leaders to ensure Alpha Manufacturing are capable of consistently producing the new product.
- Work with Alpha Engineering department to ensure all required customer jigs and fixtures are available in time for production first off’s.
- Liaise with customers to ensure any relevant drawings and files are received RFT.
- Co-ordinate any drawing amendments or any new drawing requirements with Engineering Department.
- Continually review time plans and ensure all Production Engineering activities are completed within time scales.
- Ensure all new products have a first off sample made to drawing specification. This is to be included in any time plan and approved by the Quality Department.
- Ensure any customer-packaging requirement is met; this includes the need for any bespoke stillages, pallets, or special protective packaging.
- Where required redraw or develop customer designs.
- Produce detailed snag lists and feedback to relevant customers or departments. Manage through any product changes which required from the snag lists.
- Manage and ensure all tasks from APQP are being completed by all relevant members of the team. Work with department managers to ensure these actions are done on time.
- Work closely with Quality Department to ensure all new products are properly inspected and checked prior to first off deliveries. Ensuring that all relevant documentation is completed and sent with first deliveries.
To be successful in this role the candidate will have the following experience:
- Experience in a NPI role
