Children's Residential Support Worker - £12.80 - £`13.75 per hr.

Progress is a well-established, growing organisation that supports children and young adults with Learning Disabilities through our Residential and Supported living services across the West Midlands.

What you can expect….

You will be working as a Support Worker in our 4 bedded Children’s short-term placement service providing a safe, nurturing space for young people as they transition to finding their forever home. We offer tailored therapeutic support, helping them build trust, resilience, and emotional well-being. Our child-centred approach ensures they feel valued and understood, while also guiding families through the transition. By creating stability and positive relationships, we help young people move forward with confidence towards a brighter future.

You will be caring for Children between the ages of 4 – 18. The service provides care and support for individuals who have learning difficulties, Autism, ADHD and associated behavioural challenges.

Shifts: You will be working a mixture of Early shifts, late shifts, long days and the rota does include alternate weekends, the rotas are across a full working week Monday-Sunday. There are also opportunities to work Wake Night shifts - these are 12 hr shifts 9pm - 9am.

What we want from you…

Qualifications / Experience

Successful candidates will ideally need to have:

  • Level 3 or 4 in Residential Childcare or Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People’s Workforce (Social Care Pathway), candidates who are successful and do not hold this qualification will be supported to complete this after passing their probation.
  • You will also have experience of working with children and young people with moderate to severe learning disabilities and/or physical disabilities, Autism, ADHD, sensory impairment, and associated behavioural challenges and/or complex care needs, however we will consider candidates from EBD residential settings also.

Skills/Abilities

  • Working knowledge of, following, and working to Care and support Plans.
  • Experience of Conflict Management and dealing with difficult, and potentially high-pressure situations
  • You will be a supportive, caring, approachable and a helpful and reliable team player.
  • An enthusiastic person who brings fresh ideas and can work on their own initiative.
