Description
City of Woodburn has a newly developed position for a Risk and Safety Coordinator. Reporting to the City Recorder who serves as the Risk Manager, the incumbent will perform citywide technical and professional work in City’s comprehensive risk management program designed to protect the City from exposure to risk that could have adverse consequences to operations, employee safety, financial position, or community relations. Span of responsibility covers hands-on tasks related to all departments' safety programs, including occupational health and safety, injury prevention, other job related safety control functions. Duties include: Coordinate safety committee meetings and safety inspections and audits for Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) compliance; perform inspections to ensure compliance with safety and hazardous material regulations and inspect equipment and work areas. Review and recommend safety procedures, practices, and equipment for departments; examine, design, and implement alternative risk management and mitigation techniques, strategies, and measures. Investigate safety incidents and accidents and direct and participate in the development of new programs, initiatives, and incentives to improve workplace safety.
Four-year degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field and five (5) years increasingly responsible professional level risk management and loss control program experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. Must pass the pre-employment background check; must be able to obtain and maintain during employment: Law Enforcement Data System (LEDS) certification and Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) clearance; have a valid Oregon class C driver's license and ability to meet the City of Woodburn's driving standards. Bilingual in English/Spanish; PRIMA Risk Manager certificate and OR-OSHA training preferred.
