Duty Manager – Ground Operations

Location: Southampton Airport
Reporting to: Head of Ground Operations (based in Guernsey)

Lead From the Front. Keep the Operation Moving.

Aurigny is seeking an experienced and motivated Duty Manager to support the Head of Ground Operations in the safe, secure and efficient day-to-day running of our airport operation. This is a critical leadership role, responsible for ensuring compliance, punctuality and high standards of customer service while managing teams in a fast-paced, operationally complex environment.

The Role

As Duty Manager, you will take operational ownership of the station during your shift, ensuring that people, equipment and processes are aligned to deliver safe, on-time departures and arrivals. You will act as a key point of accountability for events that occur during the shift and represent the airline professionally to stakeholders across the airport.

You will work closely with senior management, airport authorities and customer airlines, ensuring that company policies, procedures and safety standards are consistently applied.


Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership & Resource Management

  • Ensure adequate staffing and resources are in place to support the safe and efficient operation of the station
  • Actively manage operational disruption, reallocating resources to maintain punctuality and high customer satisfaction

Safety, Security & Compliance

  • Act in accordance with the Ground Operations Manual and all relevant safety procedures
  • Actively promote safety across the operation and lead by example as a safety role model

People Management & Development

  • Motivate, engage and support team members to deliver consistently high standards of customer service

Stakeholder & Senior Management Engagement

  • Liaise with Airport Management on a range of operational, safety and security matters
  • Attend airport meetings on behalf of the airline, ensuring actions are completed on time and to standard

Administration & Continuous Improvement

  • Review procedures and documentation to ensure they remain effective and compliant
  • Manage station budgets, ensuring financial compliance and accountability

Skills & Experience Required

We’re looking for a confident leader with a strong operational mindset:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working in an aviation or airport environment
  • Proven experience in customer service within a customer-facing operation
  • Strong leadership capability with the ability to motivate and engage teams
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Flexible approach to working hours, including shifts and operational cover
