Bradfield College & St Andrew’s Berkshire are co-educational independent boarding and day schools set within 250 acres of stunning Berkshire countryside, combining historic buildings with modern academic, boarding, sports and performance facilities. The College and school operate seven days a week and remains active year-round, welcoming pupils, staff, families and guests for a range of purposes.
We are looking for a Laundry Assistant to join our in house laundry operation. This role plays an essential part in maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and presentation across the College, supporting boarding house teams.
The Role
Reporting to the Laundry Supervisor, the Laundry Assistant is responsible for the day‑to‑day processing of College laundry, ensuring items are cleaned, dried, ironed, stored and returned efficiently and safely.
The role involves working with commercial laundry equipment and following structured processes to ensure hygiene standards are consistently met. Full training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Sort, wash, dry, fold and iron laundry items including bedding, towels, uniforms and other textiles
- Operate washing machines, dryers and irons safely and efficiently
- Use detergents and chemicals correctly, in line with COSHH guidelines and training
- Maintain a clean, organised and hygienic laundry workspace
- Report equipment faults or maintenance issues promptly
- Follow infection control procedures and use PPE when handling soiled laundry
- Ensure items are correctly labelled and returned to the appropriate area
The Ideal Candidate
You do not need previous laundry experience to apply, full training will be provided. We are looking for reliable, practical individuals who take pride in their work.

- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Detail‑focused, with commitment to hygiene and quality
- Flexible and willing to support the wider team when needed
- Discreet and professional in a school environment
Previous experience in laundry, cleaning or a similar role is helpful but not essential.
