City of Woodburn has an opening for a Permit Technician to perform a variety of technical and clerical duties in support of the Community Development Department. The incumbent will issue building and planning permits, monitor permit processes, provide information and customer service to the public. Job duties include review and process over-the-counter residential and commercial construction applications; review applications to ensure accuracy and completeness; calculate permit fees; invoicing; guide the public and contractors with building and land use applications; search and report archival information; schedule plan reviews and inspections; set up meeting venues and materials for department meetings; and process testimony and take minutes from Planning Commission meetings.

The ideal candidate will have exceptional interpersonal communication and customer service skills to work with residents, contractors and coworkers; be required to exercise discretion and tact and be a "self-starter" and able to work through problems independently before seeking help from other staff.

High School Diploma or GED, and three (3) years of progressive experience in administrative support and customer service, preferably in a planning, building, or engineering area, or an equivalent combination of training and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. The successful candidate must pass the pre-employment backgroundcheck. Bilingual in English/Spanish and experience in Oregon E-Permitting strongly preferred.
