Are you a caring and compassionate nurse who wants to make a meaningful difference during one of life’s most sensitive times? Would you like to join an organisation where you can grow, feel supported and truly make an impact every day?

We’re looking for experienced Registered Nurses to join us at this exciting time as we welcome our first in-patients at our brand new Hospice at the Lambert in Thirsk.

About us

Our family of services - Herriot Hospice Homecare, Just ‘B’ and Saint Michael’s Hospice - provide vital support to people when they need it most. Our vision is of a community where everyone gets the care they need, want and deserve, and you can help make that a reality.

We are an independent charity powered by local communities. Every day, we help to improve quality of life for people living with terminal illness, bereavement and mental health concerns, because our belief is that no one should suffer. Our incredible teams work together to make this happen.

Your role as a Hospice Nurse

At the heart of our patient-centred approach is a simple belief that every moment counts. Our mission is to deliver exceptional, personalised care that brings comfort, dignity, and support to our patients and those who love them.

As a Hospice Nurse, you’ll lead by example in delivering high-quality, holistic care within our welcoming inpatient unit. You’ll provide vital support not just to patients, but to families and colleagues helping to create an environment of trust, peace, and compassion and work in a close-knit team where kindness, empathy, and clinical expertise truly matter.

This Hospice Nurse role is based in Thirsk, North Yorkshire and is commutable from areas including Ripon, Darlington, Durham, York and Teesside.

In this role, you’ll:

  • Develop tailored care plans, administer medication and manage symptoms to ensure comfort
  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team and manage patient admissions and discharges
  • Provide emotional support for patients and families, offering compassionate care

About you:

We are seeking a registered nurse who is not only clinically skilled but also deeply compassionate, someone who sees hospice care as a vocation, not just a role.

We’re looking for:

  • A registered nurse with a valid nursing qualification, 2-years post-qualification experience and current NMC registration having passed your first validation
  • A passion for palliative, hospice, or specialist ward care
  • Strong communication skills and a calm, empathetic approach to complex care situations
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a close-knit team

At our hospice, we understand that this work is deeply personal. That’s why we place just as much care into supporting our staff as we do our patients – creating a workplace where people feel valued, listened to and able to grow. If you're ready to bring comfort, dignity, and peace to those at the end of life, we would love to hear from you.
