Description
Duties Include:
- The role of Screen Lighting Technician is about the set up and use of lighting equipment and associated support infrastructure, to create the desired effect for filming a TV show, film, commercial or video. Knowledge ranges from distributing power with temporary equipment, safely positioning the lights to create the desired effect, controlling digital lighting with data networks or adjusting the quality of the light with textiles and filters.
- The initial stage of this apprenticeship is warehouse based where apprentices will work in each department learning to select and prepare a huge range of equipment under the supervision of each department supervisor.
- Duties include manual handling, electrical and function testing, loading and unloading activities, reviewing equipment lists, stock counts, repairs under supervision.
- Apprentices will conduct training with Access creative for at least 20% of their working time.
- Apprentices will from time to time be required to assist with setting up lighting systems under supervision in studios and locations for events that the company is supporting.
- The latter stages of the role will be working under secondment to production crews, representing MBS while learning production techniques with the equipment we supply to our clients
- Duties during this phase involve a variety of tasks as listed at the top of this section plus any other activity required to contribute to a safe and successful rig, shoot or derig
Person Specification:
· Must hold a level two electrical installation certificate, C&G or EAL
· Must be IT literate, and be able to use basic Microsoft Office applications
· Able to learn the MBS stock control inventory system (Rental tracker Pro)
· Must be Physically able to handle a
· Must be able to confidently communicate with internal and external clients receiving instruction and giving advice.
· To be able to work under pressure to changing deadlines
· Must be able to work occasional evenings and weekends as workload demands.
· Be willing to help in other departments when time allows to fulfil orders
· This person will be self-motivating and organised
· Must be able to drive to carry out secondment work with other electrical contractors
Additional Considerations
Secondments and opportunities will be away from the main work location so the ability to travel under your own steam is essential. Hours during secondments and training may include weekends and night shoots.
