About the role:
To ensure the Children and Young People Service (Connected), is delivered and to support the team in the delivery of monthly activity sessions for adopted children and young people in South West Wales, ensuring the young, adopted person and their family are aware of and understand how to access the adoption support services where appropriate.
Main Duties
· To work with the Lead Youth Worker/ Connected Manager to deliver the Children and Young People Service across South West Wales, where appropriate and in particular to assist with the Connected Groups.
· To provide support to the development, delivery, and promotion of the service.
· To support the Lead Youth Worker in undertaking the processing of referrals and initial engagement with young people.
· To support the Lead Youth Worker to work with the young people and their families to establish whether the service is appropriate for them and agree measurable outcomes in line with the guidance provided for the Regulated and Inspection Social Care 2016 Act for adoption services.
· To support the Lead Youth Worker to maintain agreed levels of contact with young people and their adoptive family as long as they remain registered with the service.
· To support the planning of an annual programme of group sessions and activities for delivery.
· To work closely with the Lead Youth Worker to book venues, take bookings for sessions and gather output and outcome data from the project.
· To support young people who wish to have their voices heard in national and regional forums.
CRITERIA
Knowledge and Experience |
· Experience of supporting children of primary age up, and or young people in a group, (Essential) · Experience of working in a youth work setting (Desirable) · Sound knowledge of the principles of youth work, with some understanding of adopted or looked after children. (Desirable)

Qualifications and Education
|
· Qualified in youth/play work or interested in working towards this, or relevant equivalent to a minimum of Level 3 or higher (Essential)

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (Essential) · Ability to relate to children and young people (Essential) · Ability to work under own initiative and as part of a team (Essential) · Car owner/driver (Essential) · Understanding and empathy towards issues of concern for adopted children and young people and their parents (Essential) · Professional, Positive, and motivated attitude to work (Essential) · Ability to speak Welsh is desirable and respect for and willingness to learn the Welsh language (Essential) · Demonstrated skills in supporting children and young people on an individual basis (Desirable)
