Technical Sales Manager

Employing over 500 people at our Hixon, Staffordshire base, this is an incredible opportunity to be part of a thriving privately-owned business. The Hex Group consists of a number of divisions and this role would be based at Alpha Manufacturing Hixon Ltd, our sheet metal fabrication division.
The Role
Reporting to the Sales Director, the Technical Sales Manager will be responsible for managing existing customers and generation of new business sales in line with our sales strategy, working to advise existing and potential customers on solutions to their manufacturing needs by leveraging the unique strengths of the business.
Role profile:
- Manage designated portfolio of existing customers to increase repeat business levels and secure new projects.
- Develop a thorough understanding of the technical capabilities of the business and advise customers on solutions to their needs.
- Identify target customers to become long term business partners and initiate contact to form relationships, ultimately converting to sales to meet new business targets.
- Identify future growth opportunities through new industries, sectors and technologies that may require sub-contract manufacturing.
- Produce a sales forecast for the year and hold accountability for delivery.
- Maintain ownership of new sales proposals through to completion and delivery ensuring good customer communication and satisfaction.
- Manage sales activity and customer database using company CRM system.
- Regular travel to visit current and prospect customers across the UK.
Skills/experience required:
- Good level of engineering knowledge with ability to read and interpret drawings and make recommendations to customers based on internal process capability.
- Engineering qualification and/or equivalent engineering experience essential.
- Sales experience in the engineering or manufacturing sector preferred including managing an existing customer portfolio, developing new customer relationships and being accountable to a sales forecast.
- Self-starter – able to manage own time and deliver against sales targets under own initiative.
- A strong team player who is able to work closely with colleagues at all levels to deliver an excellent customer service.
- Good communication skills are required at all levels both internally and externally.
- Hard working and a hands-on practical attitude are essential.
