The Company
The HEX Group consists of Bri-Stor Systems Ltd, Alpha Manufacturing Ltd & Atlas Coatings Ltd and we are based in Hixon, Staffordshire. We are a privately owned business employing over 500 people across the group, making us one of the largest employers in the region.
We are looking to strengthen our Health & Safety team with the recruitment of a Group Occupational Health Nurse.
The Role
This will be a varied role which will involve undertaking statutory workplace assessments and reporting on potential risks to health. You will advise employees on both physical and mental health problems, all while maintaining the highest standards of occupational health care. This role requires good interpersonal communication skills with the ability to put people at ease. The successful applicant will work closely with the Health and Safety and People & Culture teams to understand the companies’ occupational health needs.
Key Accountabilities:
- Carrying out pre-employment baselines/fit for work assessments.
- Conducting statutory health surveillance inclusive of audiology, spirometry, HAVs, skin assessments, lifestyle assessments and safety critical medicals.
- Monitoring and maintaining health records and controlling confidential information.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships across the group, giving expert advice in the field of occupational health.
- Supporting risk management and reduction relating to health using methods such as monitoring the effectiveness of risk controls through health surveillance.
- Advising on work related stress and mental health.
- Working closely with the Health and Safety department to assess the impact of work or tasks, helping to identify and prevent work related ill health.
- Advising on management of health emergencies and first aid management.
The Person
Skills and Experience:
- Registered Nurse with Occupational Health experience
- Occupational health national diploma/ degree with specialist OH nurse practitioner accreditation or equivalent is desirable but not essential.
- Proven Occupational health experience with provision of case management.
- Enthusiasm for promoting workplace health and safety.
- Excellent written communication skills with the ability to produce concise reports providing an appropriate clinical opinion and guidance.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in a professional manner.
- Proven clinical skills which include face to face statutory health surveillance.
- Strong IT skills including the use of MS Office
- Understanding of confidentiality, ethics and code of professional conduct.
- Familiarity of an industrial manufacturing environment would be an advantage.
