Description

OBW Technologies Ltd, the leading national provider of portable and fixed gas detection sensors and solutions in Ireland is currently looking to hire an experienced Electrician or Electrical Engineer to join our team.  

The role will include the assembly and wiring of custom control panels for gas detection systems (as illustrated in the attachment).  You will also be responsible for installing, servicing, and commissioning gas detection systems across various customer sites. 

This role requires technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to ensuring safety and compliance.

Location: Based from our workshop in Ballyvourney, Co. Cork with Commissioning & Service work throughout Cork and the greater Munster area as required.  

 

Role Summary:

Reporting to the Projects Manager, the successful candidate will be an experienced Electrician or Electrical Engineer with demonstrated experience assembling and wiring control panels to industry standards.  Knowledge of CE certification of panels a distinct advantage.

Full training will be provided for Gas detection instrumentation and programming. 

The idea candidate will be results driven, with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks, and have excellent attention to detail. Previous Panel Building experience is desirable, as is MS office proficiency.  

 

Key Responsibilities

1.Panel Building 

  • Reading and interpreting electrical schematics and diagrams to build, wire and assemble Gas Detection Systems control panels in compliance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Performing quality control checks on completed panels to ensure accuracy and functionality.
  • Assist with customer FAT on panels.
  • Troubleshooting and repair of control panels as needed.
  • Collaboration with teams as necessary to ensure project completion.

2. Commissioning & Service

  • Maintenance and support of gas detection systems on our customer sites.
  • On-site and off-site calibration and service of systems and instrumentation, including installation and inspection.
  • Installation, commissioning, and maintenance of fixed and portable gas detection systems.
  • Diagnosing and resolving technical issues on-site and remotely.
  • Conducting system calibrations, functional tests, and compliance checks.
  • Providing technical support and training to customers.
  • Preparing detailed service reports and documentation.
  • Ensuring all work is carried out in accordance with safety regulations and company standards.

 

Qualifications & Skills Required:

  • Electrical Craft Qualification or relevant engineering qualification (Electrical, Electronic, or Instrumentation preferred).
  • Experience in Panel Building desirable. 
  • Experience in servicing and commissioning gas detection systems or similar safety equipment is desirable, but full training will be provided.
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and wiring diagrams.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong communication and customer service abilities.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Willingness to travel and work flexibly as required.
