Electrical Project Engineer

Bri-Stor Systems Ltd, part of The HEX Group, are the UK’s largest converter of lightweight commercial vehicles. We are a privately-owned business employing over 250 people and have been operating for over 40 years. 

With a strong order book and forecast Bri-Stor Systems are looking to strengthen our engineering team with the recruitment of an Electrical Project Engineer. 

The Role

Responsible for the design, development and project management of the electrical components of vehicle storage and conversation systems, to a customer specification.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, produce, and maintain electrical drawings/wiring diagrams for both internal and external manufacturing operations
  • Design, produce, and capture physical sample vehicle looms
  • Produce and maintain Bill of Materials for the electrical element of projects
  • To support the prototype plan and first off builds from an electrical point of view
  • Responsible for ensuring correct type approval certificates/legislation are being followed and in place for all electrical components
  • To work with vehicle manufacturers, sub-contractors, suppliers and other departments in the business for electrical support
  • To offer technical support to the Sales Team at customer reviews and specification production
  • Support in the production of Standard Operating Procedures for large running contracts
  • Work with production and the shop floor team to produce and improve systems to streamline production and increase right first time
  • Research, trial, and introduce new technology/electrical items that can help the business to succeed and continue being market leaders for innovation
  • Monitor whole project costs and carry out VAVE exercises where necessary
  • Support in the ongoing development of the Engineering Department systems and procedures
  • To carry out any other tasks or duties deemed by the Company to be relevant at the time or beneficial to the business 

Suitable applicants will ideally possess the following:

  • Electrical Engineering qualification or experience
  • Experience of working in a fast-paced environment
  • Professional and effective communication skills
  • Strong organisation skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Experience using SolidWorks
