Contract: Permanent full-time, all year round
Salary: £34,000 per annum
Working Pattern: 40 hours per week, Monday – Sunday on a rota basis. Guideline shift patterns of 06.30-15.00 or 11.30-20.00.
Department: Catering - primarily based at Bradfield College but may be required to work at St Andrew’s Berkshire.
Start date: ASAP
Transport: is provided, if required, for a small daily cost. Pick up points from Reading town to Bradfield College each day and return journey.
Bradfield College & St Andrew’s Berkshire are co-educational independent boarding and day schools set within 250 acres of stunning Berkshire countryside, combining historic buildings with modern academic, boarding, sports and performance facilities. The College and school operate seven days a week and remains active year-round, welcoming pupils, staff, families and guests for a range of purposes.
The Role
We are looking for a Catering Assistant Manager to join our Catering Team on a permanent basis. You will assist the Catering Manager with the College’s core food and beverage provision and be part of the team delivering breakfast, lunch and dinner and ensuring the smooth running of the day to day catering operation, whilst complying with relevant food safety and health and safety requirements both at Bradfield College or St Andrew’s Berkshire.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for the smooth and efficient operation of the College’s core food services, including breakfast, lunch and dinner
- Leading a team of catering assistants
- Responsible for relevant health and safety and food safety
- Assist other members of staff to achieve departmental goals
- Be prepared to assist colleagues in a willing and positive manner including assisting with other duties as required
- Be prepared to attend all relevant training sessions and meetings
- To report health and safety issues to your line manager, including all accidents and near misses
- To ensure that front of house areas are clean, tidy and always operate efficiently and to a high standard.
- To receive stock, store and check for quality and quantity; ensuring that all stock is dated and rotated
- To operate machinery as shown and trained to do so, ensuring that the equipment is used safely and in accordance with current regulations and company policies
The Ideal Candidate
- Food Hygiene Level 3 preferred but not essential - full training will be provided.
- Experience within a similar role within retail, stadia or high street
- Knowledge of the food industry preferred but not essential
- General food safety procedures preferred, however full training on relevant aspects will be given.
