Description
City of Woodburn is looking for a Public Works Section Supervisor for the City's sanitary and surface stormwater collections systems. The incumbent will perform first-line, working supervisor duties related to maintenance, planning, coordination, supervision and inspection of the activities of the section; inspect, maintain and repair sanitary and storm sewer collection and conveyance systems, including access holes and storm water detention ponds; examine sewer and storm water infrastructure; operate, maintain, inspect and repair wastewater and storm water equipment, machinery, and instruments; rebuild pumps and associated equipment; investigate and correct system failures and malfunctions; test, monitor, calibrate and replace electronic components; clean wet wells and force mains; operate CCTV equipment and specialized software to perform condition inspections of sewer and storm pipes; develop and submit the annual Inflow & Infiltration Report as required by the NPDES permit; maintain accurate and current records of all testing, inspection, maintenance and testing as per established system. The incumbent responds to emergency situations and participates in the standby schedule with compensation on a rotating basis.
High school degree or G.E.D. and a minimum of five (5) years of experience in related maintenance and construction of services, mains, installation, alteration and repair of collection systems, including two (2) years of lead or supervisory duties; or a combination of training, education, and experience that is equivalent to the employment standard listed above and that provides the required knowledge and abilities. Successful candidate must have an Oregon class A driver's license with airbrake and tanker endorsement; pass pre-employment background check, competent person training for Trenching and Excavating; confined space training, Oregon DEQ Collections Level III certification, and possess the following training/certifications or ability to obtain and maintain after employment: Forklift, flagger, first aid/CPR, Excavation and Shoring, SCBA qualified and Nassco Certification.
Knowledge of maintenance and repair of wastewater collection and storm water facilities, systems and components; federal, state, environmental, occupational and health safety practices related to surface/wastewater management; skill in the practices used in the construction and inspection of wastewater/sanitary sewers and water quality facilities; basic hydrology and water sampling techniques, and being able to accurately gather and analyze data using mathematical calculations are some knowledge and skills required to be successful in this role.
The position is scheduled to have a wage adjustment to $36.76 - $46.77 plus cola, effective July 2024, subject to budget approval process. Please submit a resume.
