We are looking for a Housekeeping Supervisor to lead frontline cleaning teams and help deliver high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and presentation across the estate. This is a hands‑on supervisory role, supporting the Assistant Manager and acting as a key point of contact for day‑to‑day standards and team performance.
The Role
Reporting to the Housekeeping Assistant Manager, the Supervisor will lead and coordinate housekeeping staff within designated areas of the estate.
You will work alongside the team, allocating tasks, monitoring standards and ensuring cleaning is carried out safely, efficiently and in line with BRICS productivity guidelines. The role requires flexibility, as cleaning is scheduled at times that best suit building use:
- Classrooms and public areas: early mornings or evenings
- Boarding houses: usually during the middle of the day
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise daily and periodic cleaning tasks across allocated areas
- Ensure the team follow cleaning schedules, procedures and health & safety requirements
- Carry out regular inspections and quality checks, addressing issues promptly
- Provide on‑the‑job training and guidance, including safe use of equipment and chemicals (COSHH)
- Monitor stock levels and ensure cleaning supplies are available
- Ensure cleaning equipment is maintained and stored correctly
- Report maintenance issues, hazards and health & safety concerns
- Enforce safeguarding, fire safety and PPE requirements
- Support deep cleaning work and cover absences when required
The Ideal Candidate
You will be an experienced cleaner or facilities team member who is confident supervising others and maintaining high standards in a busy environment.
You Will Bring:
- Previous experience in a cleaning or facilities role
- Experience supervising or leading a small team (desirable)
- Strong attention to detail and pride in your work
- A practical, organised and calm approach
- Good understanding of hygiene, COSHH and safe working practices
- The confidence to support, guide and challenge colleagues positively
- Flexibility to work within a seven‑day operation
Formal qualifications are not essential; supervisory or cleaning‑related training is desirable.
