RD&D Engineer

Overview of the role

To undertake the design, development, and transition into production of new or modified products and processes in response to customer requirements in accordance with company procedures.

Responsibilities

·         To give Engineering advice to the Principal RD&D Engineer and Heads of Design

·         To have knowledge of Engineering design issues related to both RF and EO Countermeasures and their integration to defence systems

·         To maintaining and developing Engineering competence within the RD&D department

·         To participate in and manage projects as allocated by the Principal RD&D Engineer

·         To lead, improve and maintain, in collaboration with others, safe working practices, within RD&D and across CCM

·         To prepare proposals for product design and development including project plans, resource scheduling and costing

·         To represent the company and interface with external customers and suppliers and a medium level

·         To participate in FMEA activity

·         To travel as required attending external tests and trials, meetings, and seminars

·         To liaise with other company departments around the site to ensure the effective transition of development items into volume manufacture

 

Essential Qualifications, Skills and/or Experience

·         Level 6 Honors Degree or commensurate experience in Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering

·         Must have continually resided in the UK for a minimum of 5 years

·         Experience of Working as an Engineer SMT and at medium level

·         Design Review Experience

·         Knowledge of Risk Assessments

·         Working within multi-functional teams

·         Practical Engineering Skills and Good Workshop Practice

·         Good 3D CAD Modelling experience

 

Desirable Qualifications, Skills and/or Experience

·         Energetic materials Experience

·         Experience of Continuous improvement programs

·         UK Explosive Regulations Knowledge

 

This role will be worked over a 4.5 day week; Monday to Thursday 08:00 – 16:45 and Friday 08:00 – 12:30.
