Associate RD&D Engineer

Overview of the role
To help undertake the design, development, and transition into production of new or modified products and processes in response to customer requirements in accordance with company procedures.
Responsibilities
· To act as and retain competence as an Engineer
· To help give Engineering advice to the Principal RD&D Chemist and Heads of Design
· To have some knowledge of Engineering design issues related to both RF and EO Countermeasures and their integration to defence systems.
· To help with maintaining and developing Engineering competence within the RD&D department
· To participate in and manage projects as allocated by the Principal RD&D Engineer
· To lead, improve and maintain, in collaboration with others, safe working practices, within RD&D and across CCM
· To help prepare proposals for product design and development including project plans, resource scheduling and costing.
· To occasionally represent the company and interface with external customers and suppliers.
· To support FMEA activity
· To travel as required attending external tests and trials, meetings, and seminars.
· To liaise with other company departments around the site to ensure the effective transition of development items into volume manufacture.
· To have an active role in CCM New Product Process activities for Countermeasures development
· To suggest improvements or changes to processes and products and help implementation
· To maintain a log of activity.
Essential Qualifications, Skills and/or Experience
· Level 6 Honors Degree or commensurate experience - Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronic Engineering
· Lived and worked in the UK for 5 years and ability to gain SC Security Clearance
· Experience of Working as an Engineer
· Design Review Experience
· 3D CAD Modelling experience
Desirable Qualifications, Skills and/or Experience
· Energetic materials Experience
· Knowledge of Risk Assessments
· Working within multi-functional teams
· UK Explosive Regulations Knowledge
· Practical Engineering Skills and Good Workshop Practice
This role will be worked over a 4.5 day week; Monday to Thursday 08:00 – 16:45 and Friday 08:00 – 12:30.
