Location: Southampton Airport

Aurigny are seeking an experienced, driven and people-focused Station Manager to take full responsibility for the smooth, effective and efficient running of our Southampton Airport operation. This senior role is critical to supporting Aurigny and customer airline flight schedules, delivering outstanding customer service, and ensuring operational excellence while remaining within budget.

This position offers an exciting opportunity to lead a dedicated team in a dynamic aviation environment, acting as the senior local representative of the Company and driving continuous improvement across all areas of station operations.


Key Responsibilities

As Station Manager, you will be accountable for the overall performance of the Station, including:

  • Staff and Resource Management
    • Overall responsibility for efficient staff management, including:
      • Staff rostering and holiday planning
      • Workforce and equipment planning to meet seasonal demand
      • Recruitment of permanent and temporary staff with Duty Manager support
    • Maintaining a highly motivated team, encouraging initiative and understanding challenges at all levels

 

  • Operational Excellence
    • Setting, maintaining and enforcing operational and ground handling standards
    • Ensuring full compliance with the Ground Operations Manual, Company Standards and Practices
    • Reviewing ground incident reports via Centrik and implementing corrective actions within agreed timescales
    • Ensuring On Time Performance targets consistently exceed minimum levels

 

  • Financial and Asset Management
    • Producing and managing Station budgets, including:
      • Manpower and overtime costs
      • Ground equipment and ad-hoc expenses
      • Station costs such as cleaning, telephones and refurbishments
    • Negotiating with suppliers within approved budget parameters
    • Monitoring budgets regularly and identifying variances
    • Reporting financial performance monthly to the Head of Ground Operations

 

  • Leadership and Representation
    • Acting as the representative of Senior Management in local Company negotiations
    • Representing Aurigny at senior level with external suppliers and service providers
    • Undertaking duties assigned within the Company Emergency Procedures Manual

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience in a managerial role, ideally within the airline or aviation industry
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead, motivate and develop a team
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Proactive, self-motivated and able to work on own initiative
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Flexible approach to working hours
  • Confident in using analytical data to drive performance and standards

Professional and Regulatory Requirements

  • Satisfactory Police Clearance Certificate
  • Full driving licence for airside operations
  • Level 5 qualification in Management and Leadership
