Description

City of Woodburn is looking for a Utility Worker I to join its team at Wastewater Treatment Plant to perform the minormaintenance and grounds keeping functions. The incumbent will also perform a variety of unskilled/semi-skilledmaintenance and construction work using hand and power tools, preform preventative equipment maintenance within theWastewater Treatment Plant grounds and facilities, wastewater drainage systems and related programs and structures;clean and maintain equipment, vehicles and work areas; set up traffic control for work sites and flagging; and help otherdepartments when needed. May utilize office equipment including desk tops, tablets and email for correspondence anddata input.

Schedule is Mon-Fri 07:30 am -4:00 pm and occasional weekends for special projects.

Wastewater Treatment Plant is located in the northern part of Marion County, situated off Highway 211 on approximately 140acres of land, east of Maclaren Youth Correctional Facility. The wastewater treatment plant provides primary, secondary,and tertiary treatment along with effluent reuse. Treated effluent is either discharged to the Pudding River or irrigated to apoplar tree reuse system.

High school degree or G.E.D. and minimum 6 months of experience in public worksmaintenance, construction or repair in the assigned work area, or a combination of training,education, and experience that is equivalent to the employment standard listed above andthat provides the required knowledge and abilities.

  • Must pass the pre-employment background check
  • Valid Oregon class C driver's license and ability to meet the City of Woodburn's drivingstandards
  • Oregon Public Pesticide Applicator's license
  • Possess the following training/certifications or ability to obtain and maintain after employment: Forklift, flagger, first aid/CPR, and Shoring

If you don't have a pesticide applicator's license, the position can be filled as a lower level classification and pay, pesticide license to be obtained within 9 months of employment. Classification without a license is Parks and Maintenance Worker with a pay rate of $16.71-$23.30 per hour.
