Description

Overview:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Materials Specialist to join our team. You will be responsible for providing safe and cost-effective transportation across all transportation modes with focus on identifying and implementing improvements in service and cost.

The ideal candidate will bring advanced analytical skills to the logistics team to provide analysis of current transportation and operations practices to determine process and cost improvement opportunities. In addition, you will be required to support Logistics & Warehousing activities for receiving, dispatching, keeping record of incoming and outgoing materials.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Supply Chain team to provide guidance on import / export requirements or regulatory compliance.
  • Work with Finance on freight accruals and other journal entries impacting Logistics.
  • Work with the Finance team for Freight Invoice audit, reconciliation, freight payment monitoring and contract compliance.
  • Work with Logistics Companies to design and generate standard reports that summarize key operational metrics on a daily / weekly and monthly basis.
  • Perform data mining to identify improvement opportunities to monitor trends to identify process and cost improvements.
  • Update Shipping guides and procedures as needed.
  • Compile and analyse historical shipping information.
  • Receiving materials
  • The physical movement of inventory from receiving to storage locations.
  • Recording and maintaining project and internal stock on ERP system.
  • General office administration including processing delivery dockets and shipping paperwork.
  • Adherence to Good Management Practices and comply with all Health & Safety regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records and databases.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure Supply Chain requirements are met and provide administrative support to the Supply Chain Manager as required.
  • Other duties as directed by the Supply Chain Manager

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 4 years + experience working in a Logistics environment.
  • Forklift experience and approved completed training desired.
  • 3rd Level Supply Chain/Business qualification Level 6 or Level 7 is preferred.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Exposure and Knowledge of Customs Compliance and Tariffs an advantage.

Key Skills & Attributes:

  • Experienced in Logistics processes.
  • IT skills (Word, Excel, etc.) is essential.
  • Experience of ERP systems is an advantage.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prepare and maintain records and files in an automated system.
  • Excellent attention to detail to ensure all warehouse documentation & purchase orders are accurate.
  • Strong sense of customer focus and teamwork.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work with team members, clients, and suppliers.
