Description

OBW Technologies Ltd, the leading national provider of portable and fixed gas detection sensors and solutions in Ireland is currently looking to hire a Senior Sales Executive to join our Business Development team.  

Location: Based out of our Limerick office this is a hybrid role, with frequent travel to customer sites across Ireland, primarily in Munster, Leinster, and Connaught.

 

Role Summary:

We are seeking a driven and experienced Senior Sales Executive to drive sales efforts for life safety systems, with a primary focus on fixed gas detection solutions. The ideal candidate will work autonomously, while also collaborating within a broader project delivery team, to identify, secure, and deliver large-scale projects across multiple industries, including pharmaceutical, medical device, food & beverage, semiconductor, data centre, and utilities. The role combines technical sales expertise, proactive business development, and the ability to close high-value deals.

 

Key Responsibilities

1.Sales Strategy & Business Development

·        Proactively identify, research, and develop new sales opportunities within target industries, including pharmaceutical, medical device, food and beverage, semiconductor, data center, and utilities.

·        Build and maintain a high-value pipeline of sales opportunities, focusing on securing large-scale projects.

·        Develop and execute tailored strategies to penetrate competitive markets, leveraging insights into customer challenges and industry trends. Identify potential risks or shifts in market conditions and adapt strategies accordingly.

·        Take complete ownership of high-value projects, from lead generation to deal closure, with minimal oversight.

2. Customer Relationship Management

·     Manage and grow relationships with key accounts and stakeholders (i.e. engineers, facilities teams, decision-makers within client organizations) ensuring long-term partnerships and repeat business.

·        Lead and organise customer site walkdowns, presentations, and system demonstrations, providing in-depth technical explanations and showcasing solutions' value.

·      Manage ongoing communication with clients to understand their evolving needs, providing consultative guidance to position solutions effectively.

·        Maintain consistent touchpoints with existing customers to identify upselling or cross-selling opportunities.

3. Project Scoping & Proposal Development

·     Collaborate with internal technical teams, including project managers, E&I engineers, and the technical design department, to scope customer projects accurately.

·    Translate technical project requirements into clear, persuasive, and competitive sales proposals that address client pain points and demonstrate ROI.

·        Review and negotiate terms with suppliers to secure project-specific discounts, ensuring both profitability and competitiveness.

·        Utilise the companies CRM system to build quotations, and process purchase orders and sales orders.

 

4. Contract Negotiations & Closing

·   Take the lead in negotiating contracts for high-value projects, ensuring terms align with company objectives while meeting client expectations.

·        Work within the procurement and vendor approval processes to successfully close deals.

·        Work with management where necessary to finalize contracts and mitigate risks associated with project delivery.

5. Product Knowledge & Technical Expertise

·        Develop a deep understanding of fixed gas detection systems, their applications, and the industries they serve.

·        Stay up-to-date with technological advancements in gas detection, SCADA integration, and related life safety systems.

·        Act as a technical advisor during customer engagements, providing guidance on product selection, system integration, and regulatory compliance.

6. Performance Monitoring & Reporting

·       Regularly review and analyse sales performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and ensure alignment with company targets.

·        Prepare and present detailed monthly reports on pipeline status, project progress, and closed deals to senior management.

·        Utilize CRM system to track lead progression, manage accounts, and ensure accurate forecasting and reporting.

7. Leadership & Team Collaboration

·        Mentor and develop junior sales team members, providing coaching on best practices, sales strategies, and technical knowledge.

·     Foster collaboration with cross-functional teams, including operations, service, procurement and finance, to ensure seamless project delivery and customer satisfaction.

·        Provide input on training programs to upskill sales staff and enhance team effectiveness.

8. Voice of the Customer

·    Act as the primary advocate for customers within the organization, communicating their needs to technical design, service, and innovation teams.

·      Contribute to the development of new solutions or product enhancements by relaying customer feedback and identifying market gaps.

·        Provide insights on emerging technologies, industry trends, and competitive intelligence to influence company strategy.

9. Marketing & Outreach

·    Represent the company at trade shows, industry conferences, and networking events, delivering presentations and generating new leads.

·    Collaborate with the marketing team to develop promotional materials, case studies, and campaigns that support business development efforts.

10. Project Management Support

·        Oversee the initial launch stages of secured projects, ensuring accurate handover of requirements to project teams.

·        Collaborate with project managers to address project change requests and mitigate risks to project delivery and performance.

11. Continuous Learning & Industry Insight

·        Stay informed on regulatory changes, safety standards, and certifications related to gas detection systems.

·        Engage in training programs and certifications to enhance technical and sales expertise.

 

Qualifications & Skills Required:

·        Proven track record in technical sales, preferably within life safety, gas detection, or industrial solutions.

·        Strong understanding of the sales process with demonstrated ability to generate leads, build relationships, and close deals.

·        Exceptional negotiation and presentation skills, with the ability to influence decision-makers.

·        Technical aptitude to understand gas detection systems and related technologies.

·        Highly motivated, self-driven, and able to work independently to achieve results.

·        Proficiency with CRM and ERP systems for sales management and reporting.

·        Willingness to travel frequently across Ireland and occasional international travel.
