Volunteer trainee counsellors | mid and East Surrey
YMCA East Surrey’s Heads Together youth counselling service has opportunities for trainee counsellors across mid and East Surrey, working with young people aged 11 to 24.
We offer volunteer placements for counsellors in training (and newly qualified counsellors wishing to gain further experience) to see between three and six clients each week. We provide free fortnightly group supervision and CPD opportunities to develop your skills and experience in working with young people.
If you would like to discuss this in more detail, please contact Shan Johnson to arrange an informal chat
Volunteer mentors - Y's Girls project
We are looking for volunteers who are eager to make a difference in their own community and make a difference in the life of a young person. The mentor will regularly meet up (once a week) with a young person offering a friendly ear, support and guidance and advice on making positive life choices. There will also be a need for the mentor to build a relationship with the young person’s parents/guardians, although the main focus is the young person. Full training will be given and a DBS check will be required (no cost involved). A mentor will work with one young person for a period of 12 months building a good working relationship to support this young person to thrive.
Email Keleigh.Nicholls@ymcaeastsurrey.org.uk to find out more.
Volunteer walk leaders
If you can spare a few hours a week and enjoy being outdoors, we are always looking for new volunteer walk leaders for our health walks. Find out more.
Board of Management
Our Board is responsible for the governance of YMCA East Surrey and meets regularly to discuss a wide range of matters, including the charity’s vision, mission and strategic direction. If you are interested in joining our board, please email ian.burks@ymcaeastsurrey.org.uk.
