Description

What we’re about

We’re Huler. A team of creative, problem-solving doers on a mission to bring simplicity back to the working day.

We’re not suits. We’re people who build smart, human-first tech that makes work feel calmer. We’re hell bent on drowning out the noise, ditching the enterprise fluff, and helping teams do their best work; without the headache.

Clarity over complexity is our MO. And that shows in how we work, too. No egos. Just sharp minds, straight talk, and work we’re proud of.

What we’re building

Huler is a Smart Intranet designed to bring the smartphone experience to the digital workplace. While most ‘modern’ intranets claim to cut through the noise, Huler drowns it out. It pulls everything people need - tools, content, updates - into one beautiful, personal hub.

No endless features. No clutter. Just a seamless, intuitive platform that actually works, and looks damn good doing it.

Who we’re looking for

We’re scaling fast and are looking for brilliant humans who want to build something that matters, and have a great time doing it.

The Role

As a Junior Front-End Engineer, you’ll support the delivery of high-quality user interfaces for our SaaS platform by working closely with experienced engineers and creative teams. This role offers the opportunity to grow your skills in React and TypeScript while contributing to a modern, scalable product focused on performance, usability, and maintainability. You'll use TDD best practices, helping you build reliable, well-tested code from the start.

Core Responsibilities

  • Work alongside our creative team to bring concept designs to life creating fully functioning web components with outstanding usability
  • Work closely with senior engineers to ensure quality of code and reinforce best practices
  • Use project or technical documentation to inform your decisions
  • Collaborate with other teams to deliver digital projects on time and at the forefront of web innovation
  • Work within developer standards around internal coding standards and best practice
  • Open clear Pull Requests and respond quickly to any feedback from code reviews
  • Research new technologies and development methods to maintain modern processes and standards
  • Help troubleshoot bugs and contribute to testing and debugging efforts
  • Learn and apply test-driven development (TDD) practices

What you’ll bring to the team

  • A good understanding of the main building blocks of the web: HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Any experience with TypeScript is a plus!
  • Good knowledge of React and how to use its fundamental features like hooks
  • A solid base in coding and how computers work, which helps you solve problems effectively
  • Some hands-on experience with Git for managing code changes, and ideally an understanding of how to work with branches and merge code
  • Some understanding of how to connect and work with RESTful APIs to get data for our applications, including the basics of how they work and handle errors
  • A desire to write clear, well-organised, and easy-to-understand code that the team can work with. You'll also bring an awareness of tools that help us keep our code consistent and high-quality
  • Ability to use different methods to find and fix problems in our code and some experience with testing tools (like Jest, Vitest, or Playwright) and following good testing practices

What To Expect

We believe that finding a new job should be an enjoyable process. We’re passionate about bringing our whole selves to work, so what you see is what you get. All we ask from you, is that you show us your authentic self. We’re looking for people who bring something new to the team, who add to our culture and make it even greater.

If we think you'd be a great addition to our team, we'll invite you to a first stage interview where you'll meet Ella our Employee Experience Lead, and our Front End Tech Lead, James. This will be a call to get to know you and for you to ask any questions about the role. We’ll also find out why Huler interests you and what you feel you can add to our team. Next, you’ll be invited to complete a short task followed by a final stage interview with James and another member of our Tech Team. Here, we will talk through your experience in more detail.

At Huler, we’re on a mission to build an inclusive, welcoming culture that encourages and actively supports diversity and 97% of our teams believe we’re headed in the right direction. Our race, gender, religion, background, sexuality and beliefs are what make us unique. Our people are expected to always treat each other with respect, care and compassion. This starts from the moment you apply for a role at Huler, so we want you know we’re an equal opportunity employer. We will always strive to be as inclusive as possible in all aspects of employment and have a zero-tolerance policy for discrimination of any kind.

If you require any assistance, accommodations, or support during the application or interview stages, please don't hesitate to contact Ella Holland at ella.holland@huler.io. We're happy to help!
