Description
City of Woodburn is looking for a responsible, dedicated person to organize, manage and implement the procedures required to collect, process and preserve property and evidence for the Police Department. If you enjoy providing professional and highly efficient public service, maintain confidentiality, perform with high accuracy and attention to detail to achieve the integrity of custody of evidence for court, then this is the ideal job for you. An essential component of the position is providing the security and control of seized or recovered property.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and inventory all property & evidence under department control
- Collect, store, and destroy evidence throughout the criminal justice life cycle
- Communicate with evidence stakeholders and respond to citizen inquiries
- Handle potentially biohazardous materials
- Instruct department personnel on best practices for evidence packaging
- Work independently, prioritizing tasks while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
Qualifications:
High School degree or G.E.D., with additional training in criminal justice or property and evidence management, and one year of experience in property management, warehousing or computerized record management, or an equivalent combination of training and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. Applicants must pass the pre-emloyment drug test, criminal and extensive background check, must be able to obtain LEDS certification within 30 days of hire, and have a valid Oregon class C driver's license and the ability to meet the City of Woodburn's driving standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in police property and evidence management
- Experience with data entry and office technology
- Experience with logistics-related software
