We are seeking a skilled and proactive SPMT Operator to support the safe and efficient execution of heavy-lift and transport activities within our project environment. Working closely with the heavy lift supervisor and transport lead, you will ensure all SPMT operations, load movements, and associated logistics are carried out safely, accurately, and in alignment with project requirements. This role is ideal for someone eager to develop their expertise in engineered heavy transport while contributing to major high-profile projects.

 

What You’ll do

·         Operate Intercombi and SPMT (Self-Propelled Modular Trailer) equipment safely and efficiently in line with engineering plans

·         Set up, inspect and operate SPMT configurations, ensuring all activities follow engineering guidance

·         Conduct pre-use checks, report defects and support basic maintenance to keep equipment in optimal working condition

·         Work closely with project managers, engineers and the wider SPMT team to ensure coordinated and safe project execution

·         Ensure adherence to all road traffic regulations and always wear appropriate PPE

·         Assist with general operations including slinger/signaller duties, installations activities, load-in/load-out of equipment

 

Skills & Experience

·         Experience operating SPMTs and/or Intercombi modular trailers in a heavy-lift or engineered-transport environment

·         Strong understanding of SPMT principles, including mechanical systems, hydraulic pressure systems, suspension controls and electronic interfaces

·         Ability to set up SPMT configurations across multiple axle lines and file setups

·         Experience conducting pre-use checks, identifying defects, and supporting basic maintenance activities

·         Strong awareness of site safety protocols and the ability to stop or challenge unsafe operations

·         Slinger/Signaller experience or willingness to develop these skills
