Exciting opportunity for a Temporary Planner!

We are seeking a skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Temporary Planner. In this role, you will have the chance to contribute your expertise and gain valuable experience in a professional environment. If hired, you will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with local regulations and facilitating the smooth execution of community development projects.  The role is limited to 6 months, starting in beginning of September, 2024. 

Under the general direction of the Senior Planner, you will be responsible for general professional planning work in development review, zoning administration, and other land use planning functions;  provide information and direct assistance to applicants, developers, consultants, outside agencies, and the public on matters regarding zoning, environmental review, and basic building requirements; assist in drafting policies and ordinances as necessary;  review plans in accordance with federal, state, and local codes; and process minor planning applications in accordance with the City's zoning code.

To be successful in this role, you should possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic environment. Previous experience in a similar role would be advantageous. Bachelor's degree in social science, urban design, architecture, business, law or a related field; and minimum three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in urban design, municipal planning or development review,  or an equivalent combination of training and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.

The City is open to underfill the position with an Associate Planner who has Bachelor's degree in social science, urban design, architecture, business, law or a related field; and minimum six (6) months of entry level or internship experience in urban design, municipal planning or development review,  or an equivalent combination of training and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. The pay range for Associate Planner is $27.37-$38.13 per hour.
