HEAD OF MARKETING & BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT (Part Time, 20 hours per week)
We are seeking an experienced Head of Marketing and Business Development to develop and implement a comprehensive marketing strategy that enhances our firm’s visibility, strengthens client relationships, and drives business growth. This role will report directly to the Management Board and will be responsible for leading our marketing initiatives, managing the marketing team, and ensuring alignment with the firm’s strategic objectives.

Wansbroughs is a law firm with offices in Devizes, central Wiltshire, and central London. Established in 1882, we have over 140 years of legal expertise. With over 100 employees including 21 partners across eight departments, we provide legal services to businesses and individuals. Our firm has seen significant growth, with a 35% increase in turnover over the last three years, achieving £8.4m in 2024/2025.
Job Location: Devizes in Wiltshire with occasional travel to regional events and the London office. This is an office-based role with some hybrid working.
Hours: 20 hours a week which must span a minimum of 3 days. The working pattern is flexible with a minimum of two days per week required in the office.
Office Working Hours: 9am – 5pm
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement a clear, focused marketing strategy with SMART objectives that positions Wansbroughs effectively in the market
- Attend monthly Management Board meetings and quarterly Partner meetings to ensure marketing initiatives align with firm-wide objectives
- Advise the firm’s leadership on marketing trends, competitive positioning, and growth opportunities
- Develop and manage the marketing budget, ensuring strategic allocation of resources
- Conduct thorough analysis of marketing expenditure to ensure strategic alignment with target markets, with clear ROI measurements
- Oversee the implementation of SEO strategy to improve website performance and digital presence
Team Management
- Lead and develop the marketing team, including the current Marketing Executive and potential new junior staff member
- Establish clear processes, priorities, and schedules for the marketing team
- Implement project management tools to track marketing activities, deadlines, and progress
- Create a data-driven approach to marketing, establishing KPIs and reporting frameworks
- Chair the Marketing Committee meetings and establish clear decision-making processes
- Create standardised marketing approval processes to reduce delays and streamline workflows
Digital Marketing & Website Management
- Oversee a comprehensive website update to improve user experience, accessibility, and content quality
- Implement SEO best practices across all digital content
- Develop a content strategy that ensures regular, high-quality articles from all departments
- Manage social media presence, particularly LinkedIn, to increase followers
- Create a LinkedIn training programme for all fee-earners and develop standardised profile guidelines
- Implement analytics tracking for all digital marketing initiatives to measure ROI
Client Engagement & Business Development
- Develop a strategic events programme that targets key client segments and maximises ROI
- Implement a firm-wide client feedback system with centralised data collection and analysis
- Create a Google Reviews strategy to achieve a 5-star rating and improve local SEO
- Develop cross-selling initiatives including interdepartmental meetings and standardised client communications
Legal Directory & Awards Strategy
- Lead the firm’s legal directory and awards strategy
- Create a systematic approach to award submissions across multiple categories
- Improve the quality of submissions through professional writing and evidence collection
- Leverage rankings and awards in marketing materials to enhance the firm’s reputation
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in marketing management and business development, preferably within the legal sector
- Proven track record of developing and implementing successful marketing strategies
- Experience managing marketing budgets and demonstrating ROI
- Strong digital marketing knowledge, including SEO, content marketing, and social media
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to influence at partner level
- Experience with legal directories and award submissions
- Strong analytical skills and data-driven approach to marketing
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
- Relevant marketing qualification (CIM or equivalent)

WHAT WE OFFER
- Generous base salary
- Discretionary Bonus – dependent upon business performance.
- Annual leave of 25 days rising to 30 days with length of service (pro-rated) plus BH plus 2 days when the office closes over Christmas
