Description

Overview: 

The role of Software Engineering Team Lead is a leadership role within the software engineering team that provides an approximate 50:50 work week split between delivering software engineering projects and people and department management. 50% of the Software Engineering Team Lead’s working week will include supporting all phases of software project delivery from proposal through design, development, testing and commissioning.  50% of the Software Engineering Team Lead’s working week will include supporting software development team members individual professional development and supporting the Software Development Manager in the day-to-day management of the software development department.   

We are looking for an experienced Controls/Software Engineer who is excited to deliver best-in-class software solutions for our customers and take a leadership role in the Software Development Team.  

This is a customer facing role with responsibility for meeting customer needs and developing lasting partnerships with our customers. 

Key Responsibilities: 

Responsible for the day-to-day management of software development projects inclusive of:

    • Supporting front end estimation.
    • Software development project planning.
    • Development of software project requirements.
    • Supporting software development teams through the software design, development, review, testing and commissioning processes.
    • Provide technical leadership to software development project teams.
    • Monitoring and management of project schedules and reporting.

 

Responsible for the day-to-day management of a software development team inclusive of:

    • Coordinating staff training plans.
    • Managing the professional development of team members.
    • Mentoring team members through 1:1s and performance reviews.
    • Hosting team meetings.
    • Ensure good disciplines are in place within your team, including H&S and timekeeping.
    • Coordinate lessons learned reviews.

 

Responsible for supporting the day-to-day management of the software development department inclusive of:

    • Support project capacity planning.
    • Support the development and management of the software development team strategy.
    • Maintain contact with our equipment suppliers to ensure that we are aware of the latest technologies.
    • Some travel required (10%).

 Qualifications/ Experience:

  • 2+ years in similar role or related role.
  • L8 Degree in Software development or related discipline.
  •  L9 an advantage.
  • People Leadership Experience.
  • Project/Program Management Experience.
  • Experience of task estimation.
  • Experience of software development project planning.
  • Experience of software design for PLCs, Robotic, HMI and or Vision System applications.
  • Knowledge of test-driven software development.
  • Experience of software development for PLCs, Robotic, HMI and or Vision System applications.
  • Experience providing technical leadership to junior team members.
  • Full Clean Driver’s License is required 

Advantage:

  • Programming experience in any of the following IDEs, AB Studio 5000, ABB RobotStudio, KUKA WorkVisual, Fanuc RoboGuide, AB FactoryTalk View Studio Cognex Insight.
  • Commissioning and debug of automated systems.
  • Commissioning and debug of communication network architectures.
  • Machine Systems Design.
  •  Knowledge of the stages of a System Design Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Knowledge and/or experience of working with FDA regulated industries such as Medical Device and Pharmaceutical.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in 21 CFR Part 11 implementation.
