OBW Technologies Ltd, the leading national provider of portable and fixed gas detection sensors and solutions in Ireland is currently looking to hire a Workshop technician to join their fast-paced, dynamic and growing team.  Reporting to the Workshop Lead, the successful candidate will work as part of the workshop team, helping to complete calibration and service of gas detection instrumentation, in addition to maintaining the calibration database. They will assist the team in ensuring that we achieve the best results and deliver a consistently high-quality service to a variety of clients companies predominantly in the life sciences, high tech & utility provision sectors.

The successful applicant will have an Electrical, Instrumentation or technical background. They must be well-organised, thorough, diligent and with good attention to detail and have excellent PC skills. They will be a result’s driven candidate, with the ability to multitask and prioritise tasks, and have excellent attention to detail and Customer Focus. Good interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written are required.

The role will be both office (95%) and field (5%) based. Applicants may, on occasion, need to travel to the site of work and interact directly with customers. Applicants should have a good working knowledge of electricity and circuitry as they will be working with electrical apparatus.

 Main Duties

Key Responsibilities:

·        Perform routine maintenance and repairs on gas detection and safety equipment.

·        Diagnose and troubleshoot gas detection and safety equipment.

·        Ensure all equipment is calibrated and functioning correctly.

·        Maintain a clean and organised workshop environment.

·        Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.

·        Document all maintenance and repair activities accurately.

·        Assist in the procurement of spare parts and materials as needed.

·        Collaborate with other team members to improve workshop processes and efficiency.

·        Receiving goods in and shipping goods out using our ERP system.

·        Assist in identifying low stock levels and stock take duties.

·        Operation of general office duties to include dealing with customer service queries by telephone or email.

·        Assisting in the scheduling/quotations of calibrations for the Service department.

·        Other duties as required and agreed with the Workshop Lead.

·        OBW uses an ERP system, which requires regular updates to enhance service team efficiency. The successful candidate would be willing to work with developers to design and implement changes to the current forms and modules.

 

Qualifications:

·        A relevant technical qualification or certification in electrical engineering, instrumentation calibration or computer science.

·        Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.

·        Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.

·        Proficiency in using hand and power tools.

·        Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

·        Good communication and teamwork abilities.
