Our community has been a home for individuals with social, emotional, intellectual, and learning disabilities since 1978, offering both day and residential care in the beautiful surroundings near Dunkeld, Perthshire. Corbenic is a Scottish registered charity where individuals live and work together in healthy social relationships, based on mutual care and respect.

Job Description

Title of Post: Workshop Relief

Contract Type: Relief (Zero hours contract – work is on an ‘as and when required’ basis)

Working Hours: Between Monday and Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (as and when required)

General Responsibilities:

  • Support adults with learning disabilities in engaging with various workshop tasks, including in the bakery, craft, pottery, woodwork, and more.
  • Encourage residents to develop their skills, work on projects, and participate in group activities within the workshops.
  • Assist in creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where individuals feel valued and able to contribute.
  • Help residents with navigating their daily workshop tasks, offering guidance, support, and encouragement.
  • Work collaboratively with the workshop team to maintain a positive and productive atmosphere.
  • Support residents in attending community events or outings as needed, helping them to engage with wider experiences outside the workshops.
  • Contribute to ensuring the smooth running of workshop operations by assisting in setup, clean-up, and other necessary tasks.
  • Maintain accurate records as required for activities and participation in the workshops.

Requirements:

  • A compassionate and adaptable approach with a genuine interest in supporting people with learning disabilities.
  • Previous experience in a similar setting is beneficial but not essential.
  • A friendly and proactive attitude, with the ability to support people in a workshop environment.
  • Willingness to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Ability to engage in a range of activities and support people with different abilities.
