Description
Aircraft Dispatcher
Location: London Gatwick
Department: Ground Operations
Reports to: Gatwick Duty Manager
Role Type: Zero Hours Contract
Role Purpose
The Aircraft Dispatcher plays a key role in ensuring the safe, punctual, and efficient turnaround of aircraft in accordance with the Ground Operations Manual. This position is responsible for maintaining operational safety standards, supporting on-time performance targets, and delivering a consistently high level of customer service that aligns with Aurigny’s service expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Dispatch Operations

Coordinate all aspects of aircraft turnaround to ensure safe, on-time departures.

Oversee safe aircraft arrival and departure, ensuring ramp safety for all staff and third-party providers.

Ensure strict compliance with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and company safety procedures.

Supervise and coordinate the unloading and loading of baggage and cargo.

Assist with passenger services, ensuring safe movement to and from the aircraft.

Complete and verify weight and balance documentation and provide clear loading instructions to ramp teams.

Support and advise Ramp Agents and Customer Service Agents involved in the operation.

Confirm and document fuel loading with the Captain and fuel provider.

Ensure correct handling and recording of security items, including Rush and Unattended bags.

Present the load sheet to the Captain and communicate any amendments.

Ensure full compliance with baggage reconciliation and “Triple A” requirements.

Operate radio and PA equipment safely and effectively.

Coordinate the delivery of all aircraft services including Catering, Fuelling, Cleaning, Engineering, Toilet/Water servicing, Crew Transport, Ground Equipment, Special Assistance, and De-Icing.

Manage safe pushback and start-up procedures, including completing FOD checks before aircraft arrival.

Prepare and transmit movement messages (AA/ED/AD/NI/ED/PSM) to required outstations via SITA, including accurate delay coding.

Provide weather and NOTAM information to the Captain upon request.
Ramp Handling Operations

Safely drive, operate, and maintain all company ground service equipment (GSE).

Follow all company SOPs, airline procedures, and safe working practices.

Load and offload baggage manually or using mechanical equipment.

Handle loose cargo of varying sizes and weights safely and efficiently.

Complete baggage sortation tasks, including Triple A processes.

Conduct ramp hazard checks and aircraft inspections.

Perform headset operations and pushback duties in a safe and efficient manner.

Position and remove steps, GPUs, ASUs, and other equipment safely.

Operate equipment requiring working at heights up to 8 feet.

Resolve operational challenges promptly and effectively.

Maintain flexibility during irregular operations and operational disruptions.

Requirements

Right to work in the UK

Full, clean driving licence (both licence and counterpart required at interview).

Ability and willingness to provide passenger handling services as required.

Physically fit to undertake manual handling tasks and operate GSE.

Ability to work varying shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
