Description
The City of Woodburn is seeking a highly skilled Senior Planner to join our Community Development team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to shape the future of our city through complex and advanced planning and development projects.
As the Senior Planner, you will be responsible for planning, directing, and organizing the City's current land use, long-range planning, and development review responsibilities. Working under the general direction of the Community Development Director, you will exercise direct or functional and technical supervision over professional, technical, and clerical staff.
Key responsibilities include:
• Managing multiple large and complex current and advanced planning projects involving City land use policy
• Conducting comprehensive reviews and composing written reports for large-scale residential, commercial, and industrial projects
• Administering and implementing the City's land use and planning goals, objectives, and policies
• Assisting in the administration of the City's Comprehensive Plan and preparing plan amendments
• Participating in the selection and management of consultant contractors
• Drafting new City Ordinances governing land use and development
• Preparing technical reports on various planning aspects and presenting findings to relevant stakeholders
• Representing the City to various groups, including the Planning Commission and other planning and civic groups
The ideal candidate will have advanced experience in urban planning, excellent project management skills, and the ability to handle complex planning and development projects. Strong communication and leadership skills are essential for this role. Master's degree in urban planning or a related area, and five (5) years increasingly responsible planning experience in a wide range of land use issues, with some supervisory responsibility, and AICP certification or the ability to obtain within 6 months of employment.
