Alpha Manufacturing, a member of The HEX Group, is a privately-owned business fabricating sheet metal in the UK. Alpha designs and produces both sheet metal work components and assemblies. Established in 1989, the company now employs over 180 people. Utilising industry leading technology, Alpha Manufacturing have facilities to design, prototype and manufacture a diverse range of products all in their purpose-built sheet metal fabrication factory in the heart of Staffordshire.
Having experienced significant growth and success over the last few years, we are looking to strengthen our team with the recruitment of a Buyer.
Role responsibilities:
- Ensure purchase orders are placed in accordance with both MRP and local demand.
- Monitors steel markets and advises on trends, making strategic decisions to avoid major changes.
- Ensure expediting of Purchase Orders.
- Analytically measure and manage the supply change.
- Strategically plan to reduce overall spend, and improve supply chain performance.
- Proactively develops methods to reduce supply chain lead times.
- Maintenance of Purchasing files and records.
- Develop and ensure a clear purchasing policy is in place, and is worked to by all members of the purchasing team.
- Ensure all supply chain links are in place, including alternative sources.
- Provide research and analysis support.
- Coordinate cross departmental purchasing and service requirements.
- The creation of tender document packages.
- Manage the Invoice reconciliation process.
- In conjunction with the Quality Department, you ensure supplies are audited, and improvement plans are in place for poor performers.
- To carry out any other tasks or duties deemed by the Company to be relevant at the time or beneficial to the business.
To be successful in this role the candidate will have the following experience:
- Experience working in a similar role
- Experience of working in the manufacturing industry would be advantageous
- Excellent IT Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Ability to prioritise workload
- Able to work in a team or independently
