Description
The Service Technician is a mid-level technician with experience in technology installation, customer service, cabling, wiring, and troubleshooting systems or networks. This person would be responsible for altering the configuration, troubleshooting system failures, and debugging the various systems that IMS Technology Services installs. On-the-job training is ongoing at IMS Technology Services and the development of the role will be ever-evolving and challenging. The Field Service Technician reports directly to the Service Manager and will support IMS clients in the New Jersey/New York area.

Position Accountabilities and Expectations:
• Troubleshoot & debug applications in the field in each of the software languages standard for the industry; specifically, Crestron, Extron & AMX, among others.
• Efficiently and effectively make graphical user interface adjustments as directed in the field.
• In consultation with the Software Developer, thoroughly complete performance tuning and balancing of communication to/from devices for optimal operation, usability and automation.
• Evaluate existing systems and “reverse-engineer” the system in order to provide the Software Developer with accurate information to write a new functional code.
• Effectively and systematically troubleshoot systems, identify the potential causes of failure in order to establish the initial possible failures; and test all potential points of failure thoroughly.
• Accurately complete all forms and documentation specific to the entire service and troubleshooting process that is performed in the field of all systems.
• Configure all devices installed to their optimal settings.
• Load and configure Control & DSP codes.
• Thoroughly test and force-fail all systems on site.
• Communicate effectively with Software Developers, Lead Installers, Installation Manager, Service Systems and Design Engineering about system and/or operational questions or concerns.
• Open service tickets with manufacturers and successfully troubleshoot with manufacturers while on-site via phone.
• Create Local Area Network/s (LAN) for the sole purpose of communication among devices being installed at a client location; this LAN is completely separate from the client’s existing network infrastructure.
• Create WLANs for wireless communication of devices.
• Professionally communicate with client IT staff members regarding specific system requirements, problems, potential short-term and long-term issues, etc.

What you will bring:
• High School Diploma or GED required
• Prefer certification in Polycom, Tandberg, Crestron, BiAmp, AMX, BSS and/or ClearOne software.
• Exceptional organizational skills & attention to detail
• Expert reading and understanding audiovisual engineering drawings
• Prior experience reading, understanding, and explaining CAD functional, riser, and architectural drawings.
